Sea Anchor on a Tiki 21.
Has anyone rode out weather on a sea anchor in a small Wharram? I am trying to decide how to rig a bridle. I've read its a bad idea to bring the rode aboard over the forward crossbeam, this makes sense if its the middle of the beam, but what about the edge right beside the inside lashings? I have fairleads there for anchoring with a bridle. Could I use these but lead the para bridle to large cleats on the deck just infront of the middle crossbeam on the inboard edge. This way the load is on the hulls and where it passes over the beam it will only compress it more onto the hulls where it is lashed? I am rigging something similar aft for towing a drogue, I have some steel strap, like chainplates that I intend to bolt to the deck at the same angle as the bridle? There are probably a couple ways to successfully get this job done, what has worked in the past? Any stories about plunging into the grief behind a sea anchor would be helpful? happy sailing Casey
