Pahi 63/65 as a sustainability/science school vessel?
I'm after the ultimate research vessel for Beam Reach, a marine science and sustainability school. It needs to sleep 16 on trans-Pacific voyages, have some space for science/equipment, emit no underwater noise, and inspire innovation in green and marine technologies. We're currently chartering a 42' Fountaine Pajot Venezia cat that sleeps 10 and is retrofitted with electric motors and a biodiesel genset. In anticipation of the best design being a Wharram, I'd welcome discussion of the following questions:

What Pahi 63s and 65s exist today, or currently under construction?[/*:m]
What engineering and performance data exist from field tests of these vessels?[/*:m]
Have electric propulsion systems been tried for the larger Pahi designs? (I'm only aware of Largyalo...)[/*:m][/list:o] I've made an initial stab at documenting existing "sustainability ships," including a table of Pahi 63s, here: http://www.beamreach.org/wiki/index.php?title=Sustainability_ship_design... Thanks for any leads on good designs and inspiring precedents, Scott in Seattle, WA, USA

Hi Scott, Your school looks amazing! I too teach in an alternative setting here in Seattle though at a much younger age, and with the yoke of public school politics. I would loved to have been through your program. Good luck on your search for a large cat! Scott

Hi Scott, I am also interested in finding up to date information on any Pahi 63 under construction or recently launched. Does anyone know what is happening with the one that was about to begin construction on nth shore of Oahu back in 2004? Matt

Hello, I am building a Pahi 63 with my wife. We live in Argentina. I am interested in different aspects related with sustainability, and I think that is possible the propulsion using an eolic rotor. Guillermo.
