Re: motor for Tiki 26
Engines are really only needed to maneuver in close quarters, Jim. Once you enter blue water, the engine should be superfluous. My old 5hp 2-stroke w/elephant ear prop could push the tiki 26 right along. Outboard engines are not for passage making. If you are sailing to Hawaii and Fiji, you will be on "island time," not clock time. ;)

Re: motor for Tiki 26
Jimmy, I've been layed up with a monstrous sinus condition and haven't been on the boat for the last week. I'll try to get there, but it sounds like you may have it built by then. . .

My apologies, Jimmy, for taking so long. Here's a shot of the engine sled for reference:

The width of the sled at the top is a uniform 13". The length of the sled at the top horizontal line is 24". The width at the bottom front is 9 1/4", with the width at the bottom rear being 3 1/2". The sides are 3 1/2" in height at the front, and 11 3/4" at the rear. The back, where the engine clamps to, is 1 1/2" thick, and 7 1/2" in height. The front is 3/4" thick, and 3" in height.
The sides and the bottom are 1/2" plywood, with the back and front being solid wood as dimensioned above. It is typical epoxy filleted at all adjoining surfaces.
Another shot from the rear for reference:

The engine's weight does keep the sled down; I've never had it bounce at all. It would not be difficult to engineer a hold-down if desired.
