Rudder lashings
Hi, I have only a few more hurdles before my Tiki 21 will be getting a splash, I have added some photos to my album on http://photobucket.com/billstiki21 One job still to do is the rudder lashings, I drilled the holes with an old 1/8" drill ( about 3.2mm) but I cant get the 3mm rope through without it wrinkling up. I have heard of other people using the stripped core of Dyneema for other things and thought that might be a good idea for the rudders. Does anyone have any thoughts on this and also if you can tell me what size Dyneema has a 3mm core. Thanks, Bill.

Re: Rudder lashings
My solution was to take a propane torch and hold the rope in the flame until I could pull the two pieces apart. Done quickly it left a long "needle" that was easy to thread through the holes. Steve

Re: Rudder lashings
On my Hitia 17 which also has 3 mm plaited polyester rope specified for the rudder lashings, I put a few drops of cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) on the end and did the same as threading a needle - but with gloved fingers.
