Standing rigging
:) Has anyone used Dynex or Dyneema rope rigging in place of wire rope? My research shows it is stronger, lighter, cheaper, much more user friendly, and has a similar useable life. And of course no corrosion. It's stretch of 2-3% is also similar to wire. As I am about to place an order for all my shrouds & stays, I would appreciate any input from other sailors/builders. :) katfish

Re: Standing rigging
I recently renewed my rigging with dyneema: easy to splice (after a few practice runs to get the hang of it), and much nicer on the hands than ss wire. Somewhere on the board, there should be some pictures of my new rigging in other threads: can't find them at the moment :?:

Re: Standing rigging
Had the same thoughts and used Dyneema (Liros D-Pro) for all standing rigging, although on a Hitia 14 only . So far I had no problems. The 4mm dia line has a breaking load of 1250 daN, and Stretch < 1%, Liros say.
