The idea is to utilize the space underneath the deck when anchored somewhere with minimal waves.
Because there's 3-4 feet of clearance underneath the deck, it could be possible to hang a platform underneath the deck and sleep there at night. Pull it up and secure it when sailing.
What do you guys thinks?

You'll be wet. But the space under the deck platform is a great place to sling a hammock in tropical weather, like we have here in the Philippines.

Wow, that much clearance? I have no where near 3-4 feet underneath my cockpit. Only a seal would want to sleep under mine!

Yeah, in practice there probably isn't enough clearance.

How about make a canvas deck tent and turn your cockpit into the biggest double berth afloat. I am a fan of a well contructed dodger type tent over the cockpit of Tikis. They cost less than a pod. Easier to make. Less weight, and you get the option of having a nice big enclosed space when you want, or drop it down when you need clear decks. - A bit like "instant bridgedeck cat"..............."just add canvas!"

I saw an inflatable bimini top on a boat at the Paris boat show and felt that that would work well on Tiki without the weight penalty (of a pod) that Rory mentions....I'll check it out again in December
