2012 Wharram Sailing Catamaran Spring Rendezvous - Hui Wharram

The Spring Wharram Rendezvous (a Hui Wharram) May 18-19-20, 2012 will be held in Islamorada, FL (Florida Keys) at the world famous Lorelei Cabana Bar, marina and mooring area (MM 82 bayside).

This year will be a special occasion as James and Hanneke will be attending the Hui. So we hope lots of boats and people will attend!!

Since we expect a substantially increased turn out for this Hui Wharram AND because the Lorelei is having another huge event that evening it is REALLY imperative that I get a head count of how many people will be attending the Saturday evening Dutch-treat dinner at the Hui Wharram. If you have not already contacted me PLEASE, PLEASE send an email to floridawharramrendezvous@hotmail.com and just let me know how many people will be at the Saturday evening" dinner event. This is really important this year!!!!! Thank you.

Bring your boat or come by any means possible!

What is a “Hui Wharram”? It’s Hawaiian. In long form “Hui-o-waa-Kaulua-Wharram”. “Hui” means a group or gathering united for a common purpose (further: “o” means of, “waa” means canoe and is pronounced va-a with both a's short, “Kaulua” means two hull (Kau=hull and lua= two)). So, it literally means a gathering of two-hull Wharram canoes. In the short form: "Hui Wharram " - a group or gathering of Wharram boats.

Wharram sailing catamarans range from 16’ to 63’ and are mostly home built. They are stable, rugged, inexpensive to build and operate and can be easily repaired when necessary – most important they sail great! There is no easier way to fulfill your sailing dreams – from sailing the trade winds or the local shores – than with a Wharram.

Come and see the boats…come if you just enjoy boats of any type...come and just have fun. We talk about Wharrams and nearly any other boat. We tell sailing stories...some may even be true. We compare notes. We share pictures. We look at plans. We take pictures of each other’s boats and get some really good (and a few bad) ideas. We eat and drink and just have fun. Bring a boat if you have one but everyone is welcome... no boat needed! No registration, no costs...i.e FREE!

Everything is close to our anchorage behind the Lorelei and nearly everything you might need is within walking distance. A Dutch-treat dinner is planned for Saturday night at the Lorelei...lots of door prizes!
