Micro Adventure Hui was a resounding success.
The Cornish Hui was a fantastic get together of boats and people. Every small Wharram design was represented from Hitia 14 to Tiki 31. Seven boats arrived at the meeting, five by sea and two by road. Added to this were the four boats at Wharram head quarters, so a total of eleven boats sailed together.
There was a brisk wind on both days, so some exciting sailing and some wonderful sailing as a fleet.
Friday night was an excellent BBQ party with bonfire at Wharram HQ and 53 people attending, while all the boats were moored alongside Devoran Quay. Just a little light rain sent us under cover of the boat tent, but also gave us a magnificent double rainbow.
Saturday was spent inspecting the boats and socializing, whilst Hanneke completed the finishing touches to get Amatasi rigged and ready for sailing. The whole fleet set off at around 5pm to sail down the creek, we then sailed at good speeds up and down Carrick Roads for a while before heading as a fleet upriver to the Quay at Roundwood where we spent the night, with another bonfire and eating together on the Quay.
Sunday saw us rafting up for breakfast followed by an exciting sail out to sea and lunch for four of the boats outside St. Antony Head.
The overall opinion is that we should have such a Hui every year and we are already planning next year’s, sometime in the summer.
