Here are some pics taken at Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset. Its a beautiful place to sail. DSC08287 [1024x768].JPGDSC08278 [1024x768].JPGDSC08272 [1024x768].JPG

Re: pics
Wow, looks like a blast to sail! Slick paint job too. One of those pics shows the ama pretty well submerged. Do you notice a significant amount of drag slowing the boat down when the ama is on the lee side? Do you notice a change in the way the canoe handles on different tacks? Thanks for the pics and info! Re: pics
Its a v heavy solid ama! The drag doesn't seem to differ much when it occasionally submerges. Some amas are actually designed to be wave piercing. I usually make sure that i have some bamboo poles close enough to sit out on to counter it when its to leeward. In chop its a lot better to windward - you can sail with it hardly touching the water, but on flat water it hardly makes a difference. It IS a blast to sail and also you can sail places where you couldn't go with a dinghy. Kimmeridge has viscous rock ledges that would destroy a centre board or rudder.

Re: pics
Thanks for the pics and sailing report. I have had my plans for 2 years, and keep letting things get in the way (including 2 other small boat builds) Now I don't have a place to build since I just sold my house! Oh well, you have given me some motivation to find a workshop! Thanks Jon
