I would like to buy Aluminium cross beams for my Tiki 21. I thought rectangular, or round cross sections would be a standard off the shelf cross section that would be strong enough. I've chosen to to do this because I've been building this boat for so long I finally want to finish it... When I started building I had plenty of time and no cash... now its a case of no time, but enough cash.
Any one got experience?
Recomendations?
What kind of Alumimium
Dimensions?
Wall thickness?
Cross section?

Tiki 21 Aluminium cross beams.
Tom,
Did you ever figure out what specs to use for aluminium beams on a Tiki 21?
My beams got trashed in a typhoon, all 3 snapped, so I need to replace them, and I am considering aluminium.
Any idea on box section or I beams? Wall thicknesses, etc?
All info gratefully received.

I was told that Aluminium Beams were a bad idea as they have different properties to the wooden version and so cannot be recommended.
