After 10 years and and many thousands of miles my tiki 38 sails need replacing. I have just been quoted $8,000NZ for the 2 main sails alone. The sail maker in New Zealand explained that the biggest cost will be labour as there is quite a lot of work involved in making them. I don't doubt him but on the other hand he has never made any soft wing sails for a wharram before. I would love to buy locally and support my local sail maker but his price seems very high. :o Does anyone have any suggestions about experienced wharram sail makers elsewhere.
Thanks Glenn
PS. I have just joined the forum. we use our tiki38 "Catknapp" for diving and whale watching in the Kingdom of Tonga http://www.tonga-dive.com as well as cruising

Re: new sails for tiki 38
I have heard good things about Rolly Tasker and Hyde sails. They both are familiar with the luff pocket wing sails.

Re: new sails for tiki 38
I just got a new main and jib for my tiki 26 from Rolly Tasker Sails. Great price, and very timely to boot. The sails are very nicely finished. Shipped all the way to the USA from Phuket, Thailand. All done over the internet.
